Abstract

Female undergraduates are particularly vulnerable to HPV infections due to their age group and potential exposure to sexual activity. Understanding how radio can be used to influence their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour regarding HPV vaccination is essential for designing effective health communication campaigns. This study aims to explore the role of radio in promoting sexual behaviour change and increasing awareness about HPV among female undergraduates. It adopted a mixed-methods research design, consisting of survey to investigate the undergraduate source of information on HPV, their level of exposure and if listening to health-related campaign on radio influences sexual health behaviours; and content analysis to know if there are available radio campaigns on HPV. The finding shows that female undergraduate students possess adequate knowledge about HPV, its transmission, prevention and its associated sexual health implications but their source of knowledge on it is not radio but social media. So, there is no relationship between sexual health behaviour of female undergraduate and HPV-related radio campaigns. The study suggests that radio should stand-up to its social responsibility\r\nfunction, and there must be a shift in information dissemination from traditional media
